We’re proud to have Congressman Marsha Blackburn and Tennessee State Representative Steve McDaniel join us for the Armstrong Pie Festival on Saturday the 15th in Linden, Tennessee! Our honored guests will be judges for the Pie Bake-off, and we couldn’t be happier to have them join us in what promises to be a fun filled day for folks of all ages!
Just as a reminder, the pie bake-off will feature homemade pies in the following categories:
- Berry Pies (Strawberry, Blueberry, Blackberry, etc.)
- Fruit Pies (Apple, Peach, etc.)
- Nut Pies (Pecan, etc.)
- Cream Pies (Chocolate, Lemon, Coconut, etc.)
- Fried Pies
- Other (Chess, Buttermilk, Custard, etc)
There is no limit to the number of categories you may enter, but you may enter only one pie in each category. The crust and filling must be homemade (i.e. made from scratch), therefore no store bought crust, dough or can fillings may be used. Pie must be prepared and baked by the individual submitting the pie entry for judging, and all entries MUST be baked in an aluminum foil pan, and pans will not be returned.
The Entry Fee is $5.00 per pie, and a recipe MUST accompany each entry, with all recipes clearly printed or typed on an 8½x11 inch sheet of paper and include your Name, Address, Phone number, Recipe name, and Recipe category. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Ribbons will be awarded for each category, along with a grand prize “Best of Show” award, a Kitchenaid Mixer! If you enter in all six categories, the entry fee is only $20 for all 6 pies instead of $30.
We’re less than 48 hours away from the Armstrong Pie Festival, and we’ve been getting word that folks are coming to town to get in on the fun from as far as Memphis, Nashville, Clarksville and more! We hope you will come out and join us for what should be a fun day and one that will be full of great memories for years to come!
We will be taking last minute registrations for all events the day of the festival, so if you want to enter you best pie recipes in the Bake-off, or try to win the title of Armstrong Pie Eating Champion, or go for the Gold, Silver, or Bronze in the Great Bed Race or the OHH-lympics, come on down! Even if you don’t get in on the fun, it’ll STILL be a great time for folks of all ages!
