How the Armstrong Pie Festival came to be…
The Armstrong Pie Company started making handmade fried pies in 1946 in Hohenwald, in neighboring Lewis County, before landing in Linden, Tennessee on September 8, 2008. It took four years worth of talking, planning, and thinking about making a festival out of this wonderful treat, but the Perry County Chamber of Commerce worked up a plan, came up with a few good participation events, and launched the Armstrong Pie Festival on September 15th, 2012. We are proud to say it was a success, and we once again present the 2nd Annual Armstrong Pie Festival on October 26th, in Linden Tennessee!
Because the Perry County Chamber of Commerce is dynamically involved in community and tourism development, the Armstrong Pie Festival has been formed as a community driven, family friendly festival, with events planned to encourage participation in addition to providing an event that is spectator friendly. We are encouraging local organizations and businesses to get involved. We want to promote the community we live in and love, and so this is one way to do so.
If you are a owner or representative of a business or organization in Perry County, we encourage you to call the Chamber at 589-2453 and find out how you can get involved. As the festival grows (In the years to come) we will most likely open the festival to outside vendors. For now, however, this is all about the great things you can get here in Perry County, having a fun time, and enjoying a day out in a family friendly atmosphere!
The town will be open for business and the the streets will be Alive with Pie! Tours of the Armstrong Pie Factory will be given all day, and there will be fun to be had by all! Call 931-589-2453 for more information or email us at info@armstrongpiefest.com
